Characteristics

Perennial herb, 0.2-0.3 m high; scabrid-puberulous. Stems erect, leafy, simple or branched, many. Leaves rounded on back; blade linear, 4-10 mm long, apex acute or subacute. Flowers: in dense, terminal spikes; bracts narrowly ovate, ± as long as flowers, not adnate to peduncle; perianth bearded, ± 2 mm long, outer surface glabrous, segments narrowly triangular-ovate, apices subacute with a few long, apical hairs on inside; white; Nov.-Jan. Fruit 1.0-1.5 mm long.
