Characteristics

Suffrutex semiparasiticus, glaber, 60-80 cm altus, haustoriis subterraneis instructus. Ramuli recti, sub angulo 10-30° oriundi, lineis binis prominulis, a foliis decurrentibus angulosi, obscure virides. Folia 10-30 mm inter se distantia, sessilia, 2-2.5 mm longa, 0.8 mm lata, ovato-lanceolata, basi obscure viridia, apice in acumen fuscum, subuliforme longiuscule acuminata, superiora in bracteas triangulares, breviter acutas, non apiculatas sensim transeuntia. Inflorescentiae in ramis et ramulis terminales, spicatae, 5-10 cm longae. Flores sessiles in axillis bractearum, a bracteis liberi, prophyllis 2 lateralibus suffulti, turbinati, laetius viriduli, quinquangulares. Receptaculum 2.0 mm longum, apice 1.4 mm latum. Tepala 5 triangularia, valvata, glabra, in marginibus laevia, 0.5 mm longa et lata, sub anthesi erecta, intus paucis pilis poststaminalibus ornata. Stamina 5 epitepala, filamenta 0.1 mm longa, antherae globosae, 0.3 mm longae et latae, dithecicae, thecis iuxtapositis. Ovarii receptaculo immersi superficies plana vel leviter patelliformis, in centro stigmate simplici 0.3 mm longo coronata. Placenta centralis libera, ovula 3 ex apice eius pend ula. Fructus drupacei, globosi, 2.5 mm longi et lati, tepalis persistentibus coronati, basi in stipitem 0.5 mm longum contracti, extus nervis longitudinalibus prominulis notati. Exo-et mesocarpium tenuissimum, endocarpium durum, pariete 0.2 mm crasso. Semen maturescens unicum, endospermium spongiosum, embryo apicalis, obliquus.
