Perennial herb with woody caudex; stems 1 or a few from crown, up to 1 m tall, c. 5 mm in diameter near base, either simple below, virgately branched above, or branching from the base when regenerating quickly after fire, lightly ribbed by raised vascular strands terminating in midrib of leaves and bracts, nude or with a few scattered reduced or scale-like leaves below, remotely leafy above.
Flowers either solitary or in 3-flowered cymules racemosely arranged at branchlet tips, the whole forming a spreading panicle, c. 8–24 flowers or cymules in each inflorescence, distant.
Perianth yellowish-green; tube 1–1.2 mm long, external glands inconspicuous, ellipsoid; lobes 1.4–1.6 × 0.8–1.1 mm, triangular, subacute, densely white-bearded from apex.
Small shrublet, up to 200 mm tall. Leaves linear-subulate, scattered, lower leaves 5-8 mm long. Style shorter than tube or reaching to halfway up perianth lobes.
Shrub, up to 500 mm tall. Stems erect. Leaves linear, 3-6 mm long, scattered. Flowers 25-76 mm a cymule. Bracts shorter than flowers. Flowers white.
Leaves c. 7–25 × 0.8–1 mm, smaller upwards and passing into bracts, linear, apex apiculate, flat ventrally with raised midrib, rounded dorsally.
Stamens inserted at base of perianth lobes; filaments 0.2–0.5 mm long, almost hidden by anthers; anthers 0.6–0.8 mm long.
Bracts (lowermost) 2–2.5 × 0.6 mm, leaf-like, adnate to base of pedicel/peduncle; bracteoles 2, 1–1.5 × 0.4–0.5 mm.
Fruit c. 3.5 × 3.5 mm, light yellowish-brown, strongly ribbed and reticulate.
Pedicels/peduncles (lowermost) 2–4 mm long or occasionally longer.
Style 0.8–1.5 mm long; stigma reaching base or apex of anthers.
