Characteristics

Stems branched, rather slender, terete; branches slender, flattened and sulcate, glabrous; leaves linear, acute, 3-4 lin. long, rather fleshy, glabrous; flowers solitary, pedicellate; bracts acicular, much longer than the flowers, resembling the leaves; pedicel about 3/4 lin. long, with 2 small bracteoles at the base, glabrous; bracteoles linear-lanceolate, acute, 3/4 lin. long; perianth 3/4 lin. long, glabrous; segments 1/3 lin. long, triangular, acute, slightly hooded, glabrous; anthers 1/8 lin. long; filaments 1/4 lin. long; disc conspicuous, lobed; style 1/4 lin. long, its apex below the anthers; fruits with prominent ribs.

Slender, dwarf shrub, hemiparasite, 0.5-0.8 m high. Leaves linear, acute, 6-8 mm long, ± fleshy, glabrous. Inflorescences indefinite. Bracts acicular, leaf-like. Flowers solitary, pedicellate. Perianth ± 1.5 mm long, without a marked tube; segments triangular, < 1 mm long, apex acute, slightly hooded, glabrous. Disc conspicuous, lobed. Flowering time Sept.-Jan. Fruit with prominent ribs.
