A prostrate herb or subshrub; stems glabrous, prostrate, flexuous, ribbed, 10-14 in. long, bearing numerous elongated flexuous flowering branchlets; leaves scattered, acicular, somewhat fleshy, 1 1/2-2 1/2 lin. long, abruptly acute; flowers pedicellate, solitary in the axils of bracts disposed in lax racemose inflorescences; bracts subulate, shorter than the flowers, 3/4-1 lin. long, acutely acuminate, glabrous; bracteoles inconspicuous; perianth 3/4 lin. long; external glands conspicuous; segments 3/8 lin. long, ovate with hooded apex, margins provided with two infolded membranous flaps or lacinulae protecting the anthers; anthers 1/4 lin. long, exserted; style 1/4 lin. long, reaching to the base of the anthers; fruit not seen.
