Perianth creamy-coloured inside, brownish-orange outside, tube 0.8–1 mm long, 5 very conspicuous white tooth-like glands 0.3–0.7 mm long alternating with the lobes; lobes 2.1–2.6 × 0.5–0.6 mm, linear-lanceolate, subacute, hood c. 0.4 mm long, margins inflexed, densely white-fimbriate.
Bracts and bracteoles c. 2.5–3 × 1–1.5 mm, ovate-acuminate, margins membranous, minutely erose-ciliate, outermost keeled by strongly raised midrib, sometimes 3 only (as in type), often 4–6 forming an involucre below each flower.
Leaves all reduced to scales, c. 1.5–2 × 1–1.2 mm, increasing in size upwards and passing into floral bracts, lanceolate, acuminate, closely appressed, midrib strongly raised on dorsal surface.
Flowers in long lax spikes of either apparently solitary flowers (buds sometimes hidden in bract axils) or very short densely crowded brachyblasts carrying 3–6 flowers.
Stamens inserted at base of perianth lobes; filaments conspicuous, 1.3–1.8 mm long, very briefly adnate to lobe; anthers 0.5–0.7 mm long.
Fruit 2–2.5 × 2–2.1 mm (slightly immature?), red-brown, very strongly ribbed, very weakly reticulate.
Style 2.3–3 mm long; stigma reaching top of anthers.
Pedicels wanting.
