Characteristics

Rhizome cylindrical, moniliform, c. 1 cm diam.; roots fibrous. Leaves few, produced occasionally, linear, 6 cm long, somewhat dry and scarious. Stems perennial, leafless, erect, 28-93 cm long, several per rhizome, branched dichotomously from close to ground level in young stems and for about ⅔ of total length in mature stems, striate, closely shortly hairy on ridges. Umbels 4-6-flowered; pedicels 3-4 mm long, articulated near base. Perianth segments 10 mm long. Sepals linear, c. 2 mm wide. Petals elliptic, 5-6 mm wide; fimbriae 2.5-4 mm long. Stamens 6; anthers equal, 7-8 mm long. Style slightly curved, 8 mm long. Seeds not seen.
