Thysanotus brachyantherus Brittan

Rootstock small; roots becoming tuberous; tubers ellipsoidal, 1.5-3 cm long, 5-7 cm from stock. Leaves 4 or 5, ±terete, to 15 cm long, withering early. Inflorescence paniculate or racemose, 9-26 cm long; umbels 1-4-flowered, terminal, occasionally 1 or more sessile below; pedicels 5-7 mm long, articulated 1-1.5 mm from base. Perianth segments 9 mm long. Sepals linear, 1.5 mm wide. Petals elliptic, 3.5 mm wide; fimbriae c. 3 mm long. Stamens 6; anthers slightly curved, twisted, 3 outer 2 mm long, 3 inner 3 mm long. Style 3 mm long. Seeds not seen.

Grows in sandplain vegetation dominated by mallee eucalypts, usually in rather shallow soils overlying limestone.
