Characteristics

Rootstock small; roots fibrous. Leaves apparently perennial, c. 10 per plantlet, ±terete above, membranous-winged below, 5-12 cm long, c. 3-4 mm wide below, ±glaucous, often with reddish coloration. Umbels 4-6-flowered, 1 or 2 terminating scape 12-23 cm long; pedicels c. 10 mm long, articulated ±medianly, nodding in fruit. Perianth segments 8-12 mm long. Sepals oblong, c. 2-2.5 mm wide, mucronate. Petals elliptic, 4-7 mm wide; fimbriae 3-5 mm long. Stamens 3; anthers 4-5 mm long, slightly curved; filaments equal. Style straight, c. 5 mm long. Seeds cylindrical, c. 2 mm long, 1 mm diam.; aril stalked, pale yellow.
