Twining liane up to 12 m. high or more; branchlets glabrous, corky.. Leaves with glabrous or very rarely puberulous petioles 1–8 cm. long; blade oblong or oblanceolate-elliptic, sometimes panduriform, cordate or rounded or rarely slightly sagittate at base, acuminate and mucronulate at apex, 4–10 cm. long, 2–6 cm. wide, glabrous and pale green, thick or somewhat fleshy; nerves 3–4 pairs.. Male inflorescences 10–35 cm. long; pedicels filiform, 2.5–6 mm. long.. Male flowers with triangular outer sepals 0.8–1 mm. long and 1–1.5 mm. wide; outer petals 1.4–1.8 mm. long and wide, the inner smaller and hardly exceeding 0.5 mm. in width; stamens 3, rarely 6, their filaments connate to apex.. Female inflorescences 20–40 cm. long; pedicels 4–5 cm. long.. Female flowers with carpels 1–1.2 mm. long.. Drupes 0.5–0.8 cm. long, 0.4–0.5 cm. wide.
