Shrubs, decumbent and liana-like or ? erect to ca 3.5 m, the stems pubes-cent, the hairs 4-6 mm long, brown. Leaves alternate, elliptic, ovate, or rarely obovate or ovate-lanceolate, entire, acuminate, somitetimes narrowly so, the bases obtuse, to 18 cm long and 8 cm wide, pubescent on both surfaces, especially on the veins beneath; petioles to ca 2 cm long. Inflorescences cymose, densely-flowered, scorpioid, mostly terminal. Flowers sessile; calyx of 5 sepals, lanceolate to subulate, densely strigose, ca 5-6(-9) mm long; corolla white to yellow, strigose, the tube ca 6-7 mm long, the lobes ca 2-2.5 mm long, ? keeled; stamens 5, borne halfway up the corolla tube, + sessile, the anthers ca 1 mm long; ovary ovoid, the style very short or absent, the stigma conical, a swollen ring basally. Fruit fleshy, somewhat lobed basally, ca 3-4 mm long, separating into (2-)4 nutlets at maturity.
