Characteristics

Plants green to dull gold in loose to tightly-woven mats. Stems creeping, the branches slightly curved. Branch leaves ± imbricate with widespreading to recurved apices, broadly lanceolate, 0.4-1.1 mm long, 0.2-0.55 mm wide, plane to slightly concave, gradually tapered to a long acumen, the margins plane, entire to slightly serrulate, especially at the base of the acumen; costa ending about 1/4 the leaf length or less; upper cells linear, 13-33 µm wide, the papillae mostly prominent; alar cells differentiated to about 1/3 the leaf length, extending 30-50 cells up the margin. Perichaetial leaves with an oblong base and then abruptly long acuminate, 1.05-1.25 mm long, 0.25-0.45 mm wide, very serrate, with teeth sometimes multicellular and wide-spreading to reflexed; costa single to double, weak to strong. Exothecial cells quadrate to rectangular, not collenchymatous. Spores 20-30 µm in diam. finely papillose.
