Plants green to golden in mostly dense mats. Stems creeping, the branches commonly curled when dry, straight when moist, prostrate. Branch leaves imbricate, mostly ovate, 0.4-0.7 mm long, 0.23-0.52 mm wide, apex stout, ± abruptly tapered, slightly concave, the margins plane, serrulate in the upper half, especially below the apex; costa ending 1/3-1/2 the length; upper cells long-rhomboidal, ca 6:1, averaging 30 pan long, 5 pan wide, the papillae very prominent; alar region ending (1/3)1/2 the leaf length, extending up the margin by 35-60 cells. Perichaetial leaves lanceolate from an ovate base, gradually long-acuminate, 0.6-1.1 mm long, 0.11-0.30 mm wide; costa mostly absent; cells long-rhomboidal. Exothecial cells short-rectangular to short-hexagonal to isodiametric, not at all or only indistinctly collenchymatous. Spores 13-25 pan in diam., finely papillose.
