Characteristics

Leaves rather closely placed, 1.3–5.4 x 0.3–3.2 cm., ovate-elliptic to narrowly elliptic or narrowly oblong, rounded to subacute at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, ± wrinkled, probably coriaceous or slightly succulent in life, glabrous; petioles obsolete; stipules with about 3 subulate lobes 1–2 mm. long from a short base c. 1 mm. long.

Corolla colour not stated, probably white or pink; tube of long-styled flower cylindric, shortly funnel-shaped at the apex, 6.5 mm. long, densely hairy at the throat; lobes 5 x 2 mm., oblong-lanceolate.
Shrub 1–2 m. tall with pale brown stems strongly longitudinally striate when dry, slightly pubescent when young, later glabrous; older stems longitudinally fissured, lenticellate.
Ovary 4–6-locular; ovules 1–2 per locule; style 6.5 mm. long with 5–8 stigmatic lobes 3.5 mm. long, 2 arising below the others in flower examined.
Inflorescences short, c. 3 cm. long, densely pubescent Calyx tube c. 1 mm. long, glabrous; lobes c. 0.7 mm. long, triangular.
Anthers about half-exserted in long-styled flower.
Fruits purple, c. 6.5 mm. diam.
