Shrub or small tree up to 10 m. tall.. Leaves up to 18 cm. long; leaflets 7–11, drying green or pale yellow-brown, lanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, broadest in lower half, up to 11.5 × 3.5 cm., apex suddenly attenuate-acuminate, lower surface minutely puberulous, glabrescent except for small tufts of hairs in the axils of the secondary nerves.. Inflorescence borne on current year’s shoots below the leaves and in the axils of the lowermost leaves, a few-flowered lax cyme up to 3.5 cm. long.. Calyx ± 0.1 cm. long; lobes deltate, puberulous, especially on the margins.. Petals up to 0.3 × 0.1 cm.. Staminal tube ± 0.2 cm. long.. Capsule depressed-globose, up to 1.2 × 1.8 cm., glabrous, distinctly sulcate, not wrinkled, smooth or verruculose; stipe absent.. Seeds pale reddish brown or dull brown; aril orange.. Fig. 9.
