Characteristics

Perennial herb, 0.10-0.25 m high; stems many, ascending, sometimes prostrate, rooting at nodes, glabrescent to pilose. Leaves with petioles ± as long as leaflets. Leaflets 10-20(-40) x 4-8 mm, oblanceolate to lanceolate, not folded, margins obsoletely spinulose-denticulate. Stipules: free portion triangular-lanceolate, shorter than sheathing lower part. Inflorescences 10-15(-20) mm in diam., semi-globular, many-flowered; bracts not forming involucre. Flowers purple to brick-red. Calyx 5-8 mm long; teeth ± as long as tube, subulate. Petals: standard obovate. Flowering time Oct.-Apr. Pod long, broadly elliptical, exserted from calyx tube, 2-seeded.
