Plants 100-300 mm high. Corm 15-35 mm diam.; tunics of densely matted fibres, with short collar. Stem decurved at base then suberect or erect, simple or with 1 to 3 short, suberect branches, (1)2-3 mm diam. Basal leaves 5 to 7, usually green at flowering, blades linear or linear-lanceolate, 100-180 x 2-8 mm, acuminate, narrowed below, with 1 or 2(3) veins; cauline leaves 3 to 5, lower 1 or 2 like the basal but smaller, upper 1 or 2 brown and bract-like. Flowers zygomorphic, salmon or pink, lower 3 tepals with red median lozenge or streak flanked by white streaks, unscented; perianth tube narrowly funnel-shaped, (10-)15-18 mm long; tepals unequal, dorsal larger, arched over stamens, oblanceolate-spathulate, clawed in lower half, 23-25 x 5-8 mm, obtuse or truncate, other tepals recurved in distal half, 16-20 x 4-5 mm, upper laterals joined to lower laterals for ± 1 mm and lower 3 tepals joined at base for 5-7 mm. Filaments arcuate, later recurved, 17-25 mm long; anthers 6-7 mm long, pink or lilac, with acuminate or bifid, often recurved apiculus 1-2 mm long. Style 27-33 mm long, dividing opposite upper half of anthers or beyond, branches 4-5 mm long. Capsules ovoid, inflated, 15-18 x 10-12 mm, rugulose-verrucose. Seeds tetrahedral, up to 6 mm long, winged on angles and rugose on faces.
