Herbaceous climber, becoming black when dried; stems sparsely strigose-hairy.. Leaf-blade broadly ovate-reniform in outline, shallowly cordate, shortly scabrid-hairy or scabrid-punctate above, beneath and on the margins, 16–71 mm. long, 18–94 mm. broad, palmately 3-lobed, with the central lobe largest, narrowly obovate-rhombic and the lateral lobes smaller, obliquely obovate, all remotely sinuate-toothed, acute to rounded or retuse and apiculate; petiole 3–9 mm. long.. Stipuliform bract absent from most axils, when present lanceolate, apically 3-ciliate, 2–5 mm. long, 0.5–1 mm. broad.. Male flowers in lax 4–7-flowered racemes with one coaxillary solitary flower; racemes 50–90 mm. long, the rhachis geniculate in a zigzag manner; peduncles 40–60 mm. long; pedicels of racemose flowers 3–13 mm. long, of solitary flowers 15–42 mm. long; receptacle-tube obconic, 1.5–2 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, recurved, 1–1.5 mm. long; petals ovate, free, yellow, 2 mm. long and broad.. Female flowers unknown.. Fruit solitary on a 4–8 mm. stalk, globose, scrobiculate when dry, 13–20 mm. in diameter.. Seeds broadly pyriform with somewhat flattened faces, 6–6.5 × 5 × 3–3.5 mm., the edges very slightly keeled; testa distinctly pitted.
