Characteristics

Delicate, white-woolly, annual herb, up to 0.3 m high. Leaves alternate, small, filiform-petiolate, elliptic to elliptic-ovate, or ovate, ± tapering at both ends, or sometimes base truncate to broadly rounded, mucronate, margins entire, pale green and glabrescent above. Capitula discoid, up to 3 mm long, few together, subracemosely arranged on long, filiform peduncles; involucral bracts in 3 rows, apex of bracts obtuse, generally emarginate, erose or rounded, white with purple blotch or rarely totally purple. Florets yellow, sometimes tipped pink. Flowering time all year. Pappus of barbellate bristles. Cypselae oblong, hairy.
