Characteristics

Shrub to 0.35 m high, almost completely glabrous, except for occasional minute papillae on young stems. Leaves: stipules ovate, 0.8–1 mm long, slightly toothed, persistent; petiole c. 0.5 mm; lamina narrowly obcordate to broadly obtriangular, upper half prominently 2-lobed with a small mucro at junction of the 2 lobes, 5–8 mm long, 2–4.5 mm wide, base obtuse, entire, flat, upper margins denticulate with 2–5 minute teeth per lobe, glaucous both surfaces. Inflorescences few-flowered, bracts caducous. Pedicel 1–1.6 mm. Flowers white to cream. Hypanthium 0.5–0.6 mm diam. Sepals 0.8–1.1. mm long, decidous in fruit. Petals 0.6–0.7 mm long. Stamens c. 0.4 mm long. Ovary summit glabrous, carpels 3; style 0.2–0.3 mm long, entire, minutely 3-lobed. Fruit dark brown, always 1-celled, trigonous, 2.7–2.9 mm long; torus apical. Seed 1.7–1.9 mm long.
