Characteristics

Shrub 1.3–3 m high; densely greyish-pubescent with mixed simple and stellate hairs on stems, inflorescences and flowers. Leaves: stipules narrowly triangular, 2–4.5 mm long, caducous; petiole 2–5 mm long; lamina spathulate, (12–) 18–30 (–50) mm long, (5–) 8–12 (–18) mm wide, base cuneate, entire, flat or slightly revolute, apex obtuse to bluntly acute, straight, densely pubescent beneath, glabrous above, even when young. Inflorescences many-flowered; bracts caducous. Pedicels 0.5–3 mm long. Flowers white, cream or yellow. Hypanthium 1–1.4 mm diam. Sepals 0.9–1.3 mm long, persistent on fruits. Petals 0.5–0.6 mm long. Stamens 0.3–0.4 mm long. Ovary summit pubescent, with stellate and simple hairs; carpels 3; style 0.2–0.6 mm long. Fruit grey, 2–2.5 mm long; torus in the middle third. Seed 1.2–1.5 mm long.
