Characteristics

Shrub 0.8–1 m high, pubescent with greyish or rusty stellate and simple hairs on young stems and inflorescences. Leaves: stipules triangular, 1.2–2 mm long, persistent; petiole 2–3 mm long; lamina flat or folded, ovate to broadly ovate, 5–12 mm long, 4–6 (–8) mm wide, base cuneate or obtuse, entire, apex acute, apiculate, straight, densely pubescent or pilose below, glabrous above. Inflorescences few-flowered; bracts persistent. Pedicels 1.5–2.5 mm long. Flowers cream or greenish, glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Hypanthium urceolate, shortly tubular, 1.0–1.2 mm diam. Sepals 0.9–1.3 mm long, caducous. Petals 0.7–0.8 mm long. Stamens 0.5–0.6 mm long. Ovary summit glabrous; carpels 3; style 0.5–0.6 mm long. Fruit urceolate, black, 2–2.5 mm long; torus in the upper third or apical. Seed c. 1.5 mm long.
