Characteristics

Shrub or tree 2–8 m high, pilose with long, rusty, simple hairs over a dense stellate indumentum on stems, inflorescences and flowers. Leaves: stipules triangular, 4–5 mm long, caducous; petiole 5–10 mm long; lamina ovate, 40–60 mm long, 15–30 mm wide, base cuneate, entire, flat, apex acute, densely rusty-pilose beneath, glabrous above, even when young. Inflorescences many-flowered; bracts caducous. Flowers cream to yellow, softly greyish-pilose. Pedicels 1–3.5 mm long. Hypanthium 0.7–1 mm diam. Sepals 0.8–1.2 mm long, persistent on fruits. Petals 0.7–0.8 mm long. Stamens 0.5–0.6 mm long. Ovary stellate-hairy; carpels 3; style 0.5–0.6 mm long. Mature fruit and seeds not seen.
