Characteristics

Perennials with small irregular tuberous base with few smooth branches up to 0.4 m long and with pale brown flaking bark. Leaves linear, (12-) 15-25(-35) x 3-4(-6) mm, cuneate, usually obtuse and mucronate, terete to slightly grooved on upper surface, glabrous, green to pale brown. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1-4 monochasia each with 1-3 flowers, glabrous; peduncle 30-80(-100) mm long, green; pedicels 6-10(-13) mm long. Calyx 2-3 mm long, glabrous, green; lobes broadly triangular, acute. Corolla glabrous outside; tube cylindrical to slightly broadened at mouth, 8-10 mm long, inside with fine hairs above insertion of filaments, yellowish green; lobes 5-6 mm long, recurved to recoiled later, yellow. Anthers c. 1.2 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1-1.8 x 0.5-0.8 mm, more or less deeply emarginate, fleshy, pale yellow. Flowering period: August, September or February in summer rainfall areas.
