Characteristics

Perennials with a fleshy stem up to 60 mm in diameter at base, up to 0.25 m long and much branched towards apex with erect to almost fastigiate smooth branches with usually dark grey flaking bark. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 8-35(-40) x 3-5 mm, acute, terete or sometimes with a groove on upper surface, glandular-puberulous to glabrous, yellowish green to brown. Inflorescence a thyrse with one to several monochasia, rigid, glandular-pubescent; peduncle 15-35 mm long, pale brown to grey; pedicels 10-30 mm long. Calyx 6-9 mm long, glandular-pubescent, yellowish green or brown; lobes triangular, acute. Corolla glandular-pubescent outside, yellowish green more or less tinged brown; tube cylindrical 10-14 mm long, with scattered fine hairs inside; lobes 6-8 mm long, erect to somewhat recurved. Anthers 3-5 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1.2-1.5 x 0.4-0.6 mm long, strongly emarginate, becoming more fleshy towards base, yellow.
