Characteristics

Perennials with sparsely branched underground tubers up to 60 mm long with short sparsely branched stems up to 15 mm long and with pale bark. Leaves spathulate-orbicular, 4-12 x 3-14 mm, cuneate to almost petiolate, obtuse, dorsiventrally compressed and slightly grooved above, more or less densely covered with blunt erect trichomes, deep green. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1(-3) monochasia each with 1-3 flowers, glandular-pubescent; peduncle 8-15 mm long, pale; pedicel 5-13 mm long. Calyx 2-3.5 mm long, glandular-puberulous to pubescent, yellowish green; lobes triangular-lanceolate, acute. Corolla glandular-pubescent, pale yellow to yellowish green; tube cylindrical, 6-8 mm long, inside with few fine hairs mainly where filaments are fused to tube; lobes 3-4 mm long, recurved to recoiled. Anthers 1-1.3 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1.1-1.3 x 0.2-0.4 mm, usually more or less emarginate, fleshy, yellow.

Leaves dry at flowering, 1 or 2, orbicular, swollen and slightly grooved above near base, 10-15 mm diam., glandular-pubescent to glabrous. Flowers in a sparse glandular-pubescent inflorescence, with peduncle 8-25 mm long, corolla tube 6-8 mm long and cylindrical, yellow-green to reddish, lobes 3-4 mm long, pale yellow to pink.
