Dwarf geophytic succulent herb with a single leaf adpressed to the ground, up to 10 mm high from a tuberous-rooted base. Tuber oblong to depressed globose, 18-35 mm long and 15-25 mm diameter with grey peeling bark and a purplish-pink flesh, often bearing two to three fleshy horizontal to vertical roots. Stem solitary, up to 7 mm high and 3-4 mm in diameter with grey peeling bark. Leaf solitary, sessile, dark purplish-green; blade orbicular-ovate, peltate, 12-16 mm x 10-15 mm and 8-10 mm high with a deep central groove, sometimes hollow; surface minutely rugose, the ridges dark green interspersed with purple cells bearing sessile, spherical, shiny white, translucent trichomes. Inflorescence an erect thyrse up to 45 mm high, consisting of a single monochasium, bearing 1-3 ascending to arcuate-ascending flowers; peduncle to 20-25 mm high, purplish-brown becoming purplish-black, minutely grooved, 0.5-0.75 mm in diameter and covered with spherical translucent trichomes; pedicel 6-25 mm long, 0.3 mm in diameter; bracts 1-2 mm long, linear-obovate, reddish-green, acute to obtuse, adpressed to the stem, withering before flowering. Calyx 5-partite, 1.5-2 mm long, green, covered with sessile, spherical, translucent trichomes; lobes triangular-lanceolate, 1.75 x 0.75 mm, acute. Corolla and calyx 7 mm long; tube 6 x 3 mm, pale cream to yellowish green, maroon on ridges, with sessile, translucent, spherical trichomes; lobes 3 x 2 mm, lorate, pale maroonish-yellow, margins becoming inrolled; apex emarginate, mucronate. Stamens erect, 6 mm long, fused to tube in lower third; anthers 0.75 mm long, basifixed, yellow. Squamae 0.4 x 0.4 mm, square, greenish-translucent, spreading erect, emarginate. Carpels 5.3 x 2 mm, ovate, green, 5-grooved; style short, 1.5 mm long, white. Capsule 6-7 mm long.
