Characteristics

Perennials with short, often branched tubers producing one, rarely few smooth erect branches up to 0.2 m long with grey bark often with dark grey striations. Leaves linear-oblanceolate, 5-15(-25) x (3-)4-7(-9) mm, cuneate, usually obtuse, covered with crystal-like trichomes, green. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1-3(-5) monochasia, each with 1-3 flowers, glandular-pubescent; peduncle (15-)30-50 mm long, pale purplish brown. Calyx 2-3.5 mm long, covered with heart-shaped trichomes, green; lobes triangular-lanceolate, bluntly acute. Corolla glabrous or with few elongate trichomes outside; tube cylindrical to urn-shaped, 4-6 mm long, usually glabrous inside, pale yellowish green often tinged pink; lobes 4-5.5 mm long, recurved, pale yellowish green to yellow. Anthers 1.2-1.5 mm long. Squamae transversely oblong to oblong, 0.8-1.1 x 0.5-1.2 mm, usually slightly emarginate, fleshy, yellow.
