Characteristics

Perennials with usually branched tuberous base with one to many erect branches up to 0.3 m long, pale green or brown and with old leaves remaining attached to phyllopodia. Leaves linear to oblanceolate, 30-60(-90) x 3-20 mm, acute, rarely obtuse, dorsiventrally flattened but margins rarely curved upwards, glandular-pubescent to glabrescent, green to yellowish green. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1-3(-5) monochasia, each with 1-3(-5) flowers, glandular-pubescent; peduncle (0.1-)0.15-0.3(-0.38) m long, brown; pedicels 10-20(-24) mm long, brown. Calyx (7-)8-12 mm long, glandular-tomentose, green; lobes triangular, sharply acute. Corolla glandular-tomentose to pubescent outside; tube cylindrical to obconical but bulging about the middle, 16-19 mm long and 8-11 mm in diameter, glabrous inside except for a few fine hairs where filaments are fused to tube, yellowish green below with purplish brown veins higher up; lobes 8-11 mm long, recurved at apex. Anthers 2-2.4 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1.5-1.9 x 0.5-0.7 mm, more or less emarginate, fleshy, yellow.

Sprawling succulent, 20-200 mm tall, often from a swollen tuber, branches at least 8 mm thick, often with scattered, truncate phyllopodia. Leaves dry at flowering, linear to oblanceolate to cordate, dorsiventrally flattened, 30-60 x 5-20 mm, glandular-pubescent to glabrous. Flowers ± upright, in a narrow, glandular-pubescent to glabrous inflorescence, with peduncle 0.1-0.3 m long, corolla tube 16-20 mm long, much swollen in middle, green, streaked with brown, lobes 8-11 mm long, pale green, streaked with brown.

Inflorescence a thyrse, with 1-3 monochasia each with 1-3 flowers; peduncle 0.15-0.3 m long, brown-hairy.
