Characteristics

Perennials with irregular tuberous base producing few erect smooth branches up to 0.35 m long, at first with brown later with white bark. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, 20-40(-55) x 4-20 mm, cuneate, acute or obtuse, sometimes trilobed, dorsiventrally compressed and slightly grooved above main vein, glandular-pubescent when young, glabrous later, grey-green to-yellowish green. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1-3 monochasia, each with 1 or 2 flowers, glandular-pubescent; peduncle 8-40 mm long, green; pedicel 5-10(-15) mm long. Calyx 5-6(-10) mm long, glandular-pubescent, green; lobes triangular-lanceolate, sharply acute. Corolla glandular-pubescent outside, yellowish green; tube cylindrical, (14-)16-20 mm long, with few glandular hairs on inside mainly where filaments are fused to tube; lobes 5-7 mm long, recoiling. Anthers c. 2 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1-1.2 x 0.3-0.5 mm, slightly emarginate, fleshy, pale yellow.
