Characteristics

Thinly woolly, perennial subshrub, up to 350 mm tall, woody below. Leaves bipinnatisect, 15-25 mm long, lobes long bristle-tipped. Flowerheads radiate, large, solitary on long peduncles; outer involucral bracts with conspicuous brown margins and apical appendages, inner with silvery appendages, conspicuously rotundate; ray florets white or pale yellow above, purple or coppery below with white margins; disc florets yellow with coppery tips, paleae trifid.
