Characteristics

Shrub or tree, 3-7 m high, trunk up to 0.45 m in diam. Bark light brown to grey-whitish, smooth with horizontal folds, fissures, corky and flaking in blocks. Branches light grey to whitish when young, glabrous, sticky. Leaves bipinnate, rachis 13-60 mm long, pinnae 4-12 pairs, each with 12-25 leaflet pairs. Spines 2, slender, stipular, straight, whitish, 10-35 mm long. Flowers in globular heads grouped in clusters of 1-12, lemon-yellow. Flowering time Dec.-Mar. Pod light red-brown, linear-oblong, 60-140 x 5-6 mm, slightly curved to sickle-shaped, constricted between seeds, glabrous, sticky, dehiscent.
