Characteristics

Capitula in ± dense 2–15-capitulate clusters at the ends of branches; stalks up to c. 5 mm. long, densely pubescent Involucre c. 5 mm. long, campanulate; phyllaries imbricate, increasing in length to inside, shortly lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, pubescent apex dark-tipped.

Leaves subsessile, up to 4 x 1.5 cm., elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, apex acute minutely mucronate, base broadly cuneate, margin entire to serrate-dentate, upper surface hispid-pubescent, lower surface pubescent, minutely glandular.
Achenes obconic-cylindric, obscurely 4–5-ribbed, appressed-setulose; outer pappus of narrow short scales; inner of whitish barbellate setae 5–6 mm. long.
A branching subshrub c. 1.5 m. tall; stems brownish-purple, branches stiffly spreading-pubescent.
