Annual herb ± 30 cm tall; stems erect, with rather sparse ascending and spreading hairs.. Leaves narrowly oblanceolate, 1–5 cm long, 0.2–0.5 cm wide, base attenuate, remotely apiculate-denticulate, apex obtuse, thinly pubescent.. Capitula in lax terminal corymbiform cymes; stalks of individual capitula slender, ascending-pubescent; involucre ovoid, 4–5 mm long; phyllaries 2–3-seriate, lanceolate, 3–4.7 mm long, acute to attenuate, pale green, purple-tipped, spreading-pubescent especially on margins.. Corolla lilac, 4 mm long, lobes 1.5 mm long, with stiff subapical hairs.. Achenes 1.2 mm long, 3–4-angled, shortly ascending-pubescent especially on the angles; outer pappus of about 5 broad black scales, 0.3 mm long, inner pappus of 5 black setae, 3.2 mm long.
