Characteristics

Leaves subsessile or with slender petioles to c. 4 mm. long; lamina to c. 9 x 1.8 cm., smaller on branches, narrowly lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, apex subacute to obtuse mucronate, base cuneate, margins subentire to remotely subserrate with callose-tipped teeth; membranous, sparsely puberulous and gland-pitted, indumentum of small multicellular, uniseriate hairs usually densest on petiole and midrib below.

Involucres 9–11 x 5–9 mm., broadly subfusiform to narrowly campanulate; phyllaries many-seriate, appressed imbricate, increasing regularly in size from short, ovate-lanceolate outer ones to linear-lanceolate inner ones up to c. 10 mm. long, apices acute and ± densely fuscus-hairy, margins pale membranous.
Achenes 3–4 mm. long, subfusiform-subcylindric with 8–10 narrow ribs, hispidulous mainly on the ribs; outer pappus of short oblong-lanceolate scales 0.5–1 mm. long, inner pappus of brownish barbellate setae to c. 6 mm. long.
Stems slender, leafy, branching, ribbed, ± appressed pubescent; hairs long unequal-armed T-shaped, or hairs with the terminal cell ± excentric on a short base; branches slender, arising in axils of largest leaves.
Capitula numerous in lax subpanicles on the main branches, stalks to c. 4.5 cm. long, slender, pubescent; bracts few or absent, to c. 5 mm. long.
Corollas mauve, to c. 9 mm. long, tubular and gradually slightly wider above, lobes acute c. 1.5 mm. long.
