Characteristics

Shrub or climber 1-3 m tall; stems weak, somewhat trailing, when young densely pubescent with appressed-ascending simple hairs.. Leaves petiolate, elliptic, obovate or ovate, 2.6-9.3 cm long, 1-3.8 cm wide, base cuneate to rounded, margins crenate-denticulate with apiculate teeth at least distally, apex shortly obtusely to acutely acuminate, apiculate, thinly shortly pubescent above, more strongly so on veins beneath, or ± glabrescent except on veins beneath; petiole 0.4-1.5 cm long.. Capitula in small terminal and lateral corymbiform cymes, 7-14 mm long; involucre 5-10 mm long; phyllaries 3-4-seriate, ovate, obtuse and apiculate, finely pubescent on margins, the inner 4.2-7.2 mm long.. Corolla white or purple (?mauve), 5-8 mm long, lobes 1.5-2.5 mm long, glabrous.. Achenes 3.2 mm long, narrowly 10-ribbed, shortly ascending-pubescent; outer pappus of lanceolate scales 1-1.2 mm long, inner pappus tawny, 4.8-7 mm long.
