Suberect or scandent shrub 1.8-4 m tall; stems pubescent with asymmetrical purplish T-shaped hairs.. Leaves petiolate, ovate, 8.5-13 cm long, 4.5-10.5 cm wide, base cordate or truncate and narrowly decurrent on the petiole, margins sinuate-serrate, apex acute to acuminate, pubescent above, finely tomentose and glandular beneath; petiole 4-7 cm long.. Capitula numerous in compound corymbiform cymes; involucre 4-5 mm long; phyllaries in 3-4 series, the outer and median linear or lanceolate, attenuate, recurving, inner lanceolate to oblong, 4-5 mm long, acute.. Corolla pale mauve or purple, fading to white when old, 6.5-8 mm long, lobes 2.2-2.3 mm long, glabrous.. Achenes 1.7-2 mm long, 4-angled, shortly ascending-pubescent; outer pappus 0.2-0.3 mm long, inner pappus 5-5.5 mm long.
