Perennial herb, glabrous; stems elongated, to 30 cm long; stolons absent. Leaves cauline, sometimes clustered at nodes; lamina orbicular to triangular-ovate, 10–50 (–60) mm long, 10–50 (–60) mm wide, apex acute or rounded, margins shallowly crenate, base deeply cordate; petiole mostly 1–6 cm long; stipules linear-lanceolate, acute or obtuse, entire or sparsely serrate, free. Flower-scapes 2–8 (–22) cm long; bracteoles at or above middle. Sepals lanceolate, acute, 3–4 mm long, with short basal appendages. Petals 8–10 mm long, the lower (anterior) with short broad spur, the laterals sometimes slightly pubescent inside, white, rarely pale violet, veined. Capsule trigonous, 7–9 mm long. Seeds ovoid, c. 1 mm long.
