Characteristics

Perennial herb; stems contracted, erect; stolons well-developed. Leaves tufted; lamina semicircular to slightly reniform, 6–15 mm long, 8–22 mm wide, glabrous or sparsely hispid above with scattered, unicellular hairs, mostly towards leaf margins, base cuneate, truncate or broadly cordate, margins subentire to scalloped with indistinct lobes, apex obtuse; petiole (0.5–) 2–5 cm long; stipules free, narrowly triangular to trifid, 2–3 mm long, glandular-denticulate. Flower-scapes 1–3 cm long, mostly shorter than leaves (often considerably so); bracteoles at base or in basal half. Sepals lanceolate, 2.5–4 mm long, acute, basal appendages small. Petals 5–7 mm long, reflexed at apex but not widely spreading or twisting, often only slightly zygomorphic, concolorous, white to cream, sometimes flushed purple outside and/or with faint purplish venation or pale purple patches inside, all petals shallowly emarginate; anterior petal broadly elliptic, 3–5 mm wide, without a spur; lateral petals glabrous. Capsule broadly ellipsoid, 6–8 mm long. Seeds ovoid, c. 2 mm long, dull brown, sometimes with pale mottling.
