Characteristics

Leafless dioecious erect relatively small shrubs 0.3–0.5 m. high; internodes of distal branches flattened and narrowed, 10–15 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide.. Bracteal cups of both sexes sessile.. Staminate flowers and pistillate flowers solitary and sessile.. Style minute but distinct, 0.5 mm. long; stigma capitate.. Berries on 1 mm. long pedicels, ovoid, 3 mm. high, smooth, orange; tepalar ring-scar slightly swollen, 1.5 mm. in diameter.. Fig. 5/1–2 (p. 20).
