Leafless, monoecious, relatively small, c. 0.1–0.3 m high, erect, densely branched shrubs; internodes of distal branches 10–15 × 1–2 mm, rounded to slightly compressed on youngest growth.
Staminate flowers with the anthers forming a central synandrium, the perianth segments often yellow, the staminate flowers often uncommon or rare (10%).
Style indistinct; stigma a rounded prominence emerging from the summit of the fruit.
Staminate and pistillate flowers 2 mm long, borne singly and subsessile.
Berries sessile, orange, 3 mm high, rotund, smooth.
Ring scar left by perianth 2 mm in diameter.
Bracteal cups sessile.
