Leafless dioecious shrubs of moderate size, ± 50 cm. high, sometimes pendulous, medium green; internodes of distal branches 15–20 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, essentially rounded, delicately tapered to 1 mm. or less wide.. Bracteal cups sessile, sometimes obscured by the subtending nodal scales.. Staminate and pistillate flowers sessile and occurring mostly singly in the bracteal cups.. Style minute but distinct, 0.5 mm. long; stigma not expanded.. Berries sessile to subsessile, orbicular, 3 mm. high, orange-red; tepalar ring-scar 1.5 mm. in diameter.
