Fruit an obovoid nut, c. 4 × 5 mm, truncate at the apex and sharply tipped with remains of the style, almost fully enclosed in the enlarged calyx, brownish to black at maturity; fruiting calyx bell-shaped, tomentose, not gland-dotted.
Corolla sweet-scented, c. 10 mm long, not gland-dotted, tomentose outside; tube white-cream, 7–8 mm long, straight; lobes pale mauve, at an obtuse angle to tube, middle lower lobe 3 × 3.5 mm.
Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed, not gland-dotted, tomentose outside, accrescent in fruit; tube c. 4 mm long; lobes 1.5–2.5 mm long, spreading, tomentose outside and pubescent inside.
Shrub or tree (2.5)3–6 m tall; bark fissured, dark grey-brown; young branches and new growth densely whitish tomentose, becoming tomentellous to glabrescent on older branches.
Inflorescences axillary, of ± sturdy compound dichasia, 5–9 cm long, densely white-tomentose; bracteoles 0.5–1.5 cm long, linear-spathulate.
Ovary obovoid, rounded at the apex, gland-dotted, tomentose except near the base; style c. 7 mm long.
Stamens scarcely exserted from corolla tube; filaments glabrous.
