Cultivation

Early ripening raisin grape with potential to dry on the vine. Origin: in Fresno, Calif., by David W. Ramming and Ronald Tarailo, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Horticultural Crops Res. Lab. Not patented. P79-101 × Fresno Seedless (using embryo rescue techniques); selected in 1987; tested as A25-58; introd. in 1995. Berry: oval to slightly rounded; medium (1.85 g fresh weight); resulting raisin weight 0.52 g and similar to Fiesta, but larger than Thompson Seedless; skin white, medium tough, medium thick, adheres to flesh; flavor sweet, neutral, good; one to two aborted seeds that are small and undetectable; soluble solids reach 22% by the second week of August in Fresno, allowing the canes to be cut and the fruit to dry on the vine; fruit dried on the vine consistently produced plumper raisins compared to drying on trays; ripens 7 days before Fiesta and 14-17 days before Thompson Seedless. Cluster: medium to large in size and length; conical; well-filled to slightly compact. Tree: Fruit:
