Origin: in Clemson, S.C., by Harold J. Sefick, Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1970. S.C. 4707 (Alden × Ellen Scott o.p.) × Niagara. Cross made in 1954; selected in 1960; tested as SC l. Cluster: medium; less compact and slightly longer than Concord. Berry: medium; round; skin blue, tolerant to cracking; flesh melting; V. labrusca flavor absent, softer than Concord; seeds separate from flesh when fully ripe; recommended for table and wine; ripens 10-14 days before Concord, 1-15 Aug. at Clemson.
