Annual erect herb 7–35 cm. tall, diffusely branched with the main stem not particularly distinct, hirsute with long hairs of almost uniform length.. Leaves sessile, narrowly ovate to ovate or elliptic, 8–30(–38) mm. long, 5–16(–19) mm. wide, acute, with rounded to cuneate base, ± hirsute; margin cartilaginous, undulate-dentate; midvein prominent beneath as are the lateral veins at least on larger leaves.. Inflorescence lax; pedicels 5–20 (–35) mm. long, hirsute with long hairs of almost uniform length or glabrous.. Hypanthium hemispherical, 10-nerved, hirsute.. Calyx-lobes 1.2–3.2 mm. long, often broadened at the base, ± hirsute.. Corolla 1.5–3.5 mm. long, yellow, split almost to the base into linear-lanceolate lobes, ± hirsute outside.. Stamens with filament-bases distinctly broadened, ciliate; anthers 0.6–1.6 mm. long.. Ovary 3-locular, semi-inferior; style about as long as the corolla, eglandular, slightly thickened below the 3 short lobes, glabrous below.. Capsule 3-locular, 10-nerved; valves 3, ± 2 mm. long..
