Annual erect herb, 0.2–0.6(–1) m. tall.. Stem hirsute at the base.. Leaves narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, up to 18–57 mm. long, 5–16 mm. wide, ± obtuse and mucronulate, with cuneate base, hirsute at least on the lower leaves; margin cartilaginous, undulate-crenate; midvein and lateral veins prominent beneath.. Inflorescence lax; pedicels up to 25 mm. long, glabrous or hirsute.. Hypanthium obconical, 5-nerved, glabrous or hirsute.. Calyx-lobes 0.7–1.6 mm. long.. Corolla 1.8–3 mm. long, white to blue, split almost to the base into linear-lanceolate lobes, glabrous or with a few hairs outside.. Filament-bases dilated, ciliate; anthers 0.6–0.9 mm. long.. Ovary 2-locular, semi-inferior; style as long as or longer than the corolla, often blue, eglandular, hairy below, subcapitate with 2 very short lobes at the apex..
