Characteristics

Plants (80-)150-300(-500) mm high. Corm subglobose, 15-20 mm diam.; tunics coarsely netted. Stem erect, simple or 1 or 2 short, ascending branches. Leaves 4 to 7, all basal or upper inserted on lower part of stem and partly sheathing, linear to lanceolate, 5-20 mm wide, midrib and margins lightly thickened and hyaline; bract-like cauline leaf 1. Spike 4-to 8(16)-flowered; bracts green, 12-20 mm long, inner ± as long, acute or minutely forked apically. Flowers zygomorphic, rose-pink with dark star-shaped marking in centre; perianth tube funnel-shaped, lower part 10-17 mm long, upper part flaring and nearly horizontal, 6-10 mm long, ± 6 mm diam. at mouth; tepals spreading, elliptic to obovate, 19-25 x 7-13 mm. Filaments unilateral and declinate, ± 12 mm long; anthers 7-8 mm long, dark purple. Style arching below stamens, usually dividing near base of anthers, branches ± 3 mm long. Capsules and seeds unknown.
