Characteristics

Plants 500-600 mm high. Corm subglobose, 20-30 mm diam.; tunics finely netted. Stem erect, simple. Leaves 3 or 4, lower 2 or 3 basal, usually ± half as long as stem or as long as, narrowly lanceolate, 4-6 mm wide, midrib hardly and margins moderately thickened and hyaline, uppermost leaf or leaves sheathing below; bract-like cauline leaves 2 or 3, overlapping. Spike 8-to 10-flowered, internodes 8-15 mm long; bracts dry and brown, (10-)12-16 mm long, clasping stem in lower 1/3-1/2, usually not reaching node above, often apiculate to attenuate, inner shorter and concealed, usually forked apically for 2 mm or more. Flowers zygomorphic, pink to purple; perianth tube with lower part 10-12 mm long, emerging 2-4 mm from bracts, upper part horizontal and funnel-shaped, 8-10 mm long, ± 6 mm diam. at mouth; tepals spreading distally, obovate, 15-18 x 6-8 mm. Filaments unilateral and arcuate, 10-12 mm long, included in tube; anthers 5-6 mm long, ?yellow. Style arching over stamens, dividing near apex of anthers, branches 2-3 mm long. Capsules and seeds unknown.
