Characteristics

Trunk none or to 50 cm long; stem many-branched; crowns usually 2-6, each a stiff open tuft but all appearing as a single hemispherical crown. Leaves depressed-obtrullate in T.S., c. 3 mm wide, c. 2 mm thick, blue-grey-green, glaucous. Scape c. 30 cm long, 10-15 mm diam., curved horizontally then upwards. Spike ±equal to scape, 25-35 cm long, 25-50 mm diam. Cluster-bracts obscure or prominent only at base of spike, shortly acute, hirsute at margins. Packing-bracts shortly acute to acute, sparsely to densely hirsute on distal 1/3 mainly at margins. Sepals obtuse, beaked, often with median abaxial ridge, without proboscis, hirsute along ridge and apex. Petals erect, with proboscis, glabrous.
